America, I love you, but you piss me off sometimes.

In Europe for their tax dollars, they get universal health coverage. We here in America get a bunch of weapons and give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires who don’t need ‘em. Why? Because Fox News said we should. Let’s face the cold and clammy facts: we’re a country of idiots, run by a class of amoral scoundrels and criminals.

Why there isn’t rioting in the streets over the turn for the (much) worse the quality of life has taken in America is a mystery. How is it possible that it’s gotten this badwithout major social unrest? Beats me.

I think Bob Dylan may have said it best.  ”There’s a hard rain’s gonna fall.”  When Americans finally decide to retake their own destiny, it will undoubtedly be ugly.  The longer the masses wait, the worse it is likely to get.

Pretend meeting mocked for pretend calls to pretend entity by pretend journalists

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient jaguar goddessIxchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also “the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you — because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools.”

So of course, the wrong-wing media picked up on this.  They find it silly to call upon the help of a fictional deity whose existence cannot be demonstrated.  It is a bit silly, to be honest.

So whatcha doin’ Sunday morning?

Mr. Obama, go fuck yourself.

So the Fed shovels money to the banksters and other assorted millionaires.  The Democrats are rolling over on tax cuts for the wealthy.  Unemployment benefits are going to get scrapped.  Food stamps have already been cut.  Pell grants are in the crosshairs.  Talk of bumping up the retirement age while cutting Medicare.  Constant hype about how great the TARP program worked while the banks reap record profits and cut credit lines across the board.

President Obama, do you really think I’m stupid enough to vote for you again?

I realized something yesterday.  This isn’t really President Obama’s fault.  This is my fault.  I let myself get caught up in the hype about Obama during the election and let myself believe that he was going to be something more than what he said he was or appeared to be.  I suppose the Bush Regime was so dis-heartening that I behaved foolishly.  He brought Geithner and Summers on board before the election.  He called for escalation in Afghanistan (albeit somewhat in code) before I cast my vote.  He is a centrist and never really pretended to be a liberal (unless there were gay people in the room).  I projected my hopes onto him, perhaps unfairly.

But the fucker still said he would close Gitmo.

Dolphins AND Teleportation?!?! How about FUCK-YEAH!!!

Father claims he lost children due to religious beliefs

A father of three is fighting the system he claims wrongfully took his young children. He says his visitation was cut because of his religious beliefs. The father argues being agnostic cost him everything.

Hey religious freaks:  you have the right to practice your religion, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO FORCE YOUR BELIEFS ON ANYBODY ELSE!!!

Some people have claimed that high-fructose corn syrup is no different than other sweeteners when it comes to weight gain and obesity, but our results make it clear that this just isn’t true, at least under the conditions of our tests,” said psychology professor Bart Hoebel, who specializes in the neuroscience of appetite, weight and sugar addiction. “When rats are drinking high-fructose corn syrup at levels well below those in soda pop, they’re becoming obese — every single one, across the board. Even when rats are fed a high-fat diet, you don’t see this; they don’t all gain extra weight.

Death to the diseased!!!

Well, now here is one heaping helping of Prime USDA Certified Grade A American BULLSHIT!

First of all, the girl in the story doesn’t actually have autism. She has a rare metabolic condition, which has allegedly been aggravated by thimerosal. Subsequently, she has manifested behaviors on the autistic spectrum. That’s not the same thing as being autistic, and this is extremely reckless fear-mongering journalism. These people should be ashamed of themselves, as should Sen. John McCain for his recent claims that “there’s strong evidence” that thimerosal causes autism. John McCain is not a scientist, the court that handed down this decision are (likely) not scientists, either. They’re all a bunch of fear-mongerers. I suppose I shouldn’t expect any better from McCain, since it’s seemed to be his main platform for a while.

People are going to read this drivel and not get their children vaccinated for real threats. The thimerosal has been out of childhood vaccines since 2001. And there is no evidence whatsoever that it did cause autism while it was present in the vaccines.

Moreover, I’m sick and tired of autism being treated as a disease that must be irradicated. I have a condition called Asperger’s Syndrome, which is a form of autism. It is part of who I am, it is not a disease to be cured, it is not a tumor to be cut out of my brain, it’s me. If others cannot accept people who are different, that is their damn problem and they can go fuck themselves.

Fuck you, Jenny McCarthy for not loving your son as he is and trying to mold him into the perfect little social robot. Fuck you, Don Imus for trumpeting the bogus hypothesis that thimerosal causes autism. And fuck all the trash TV shows like “Oprah” and “Larry King Live” who have given airtime to this pseudoscience drivel.

If you’d like to read a good article about autism, check out this one from the latest edition of Wired magazine. Sorry it’s a PDF. That’s the best I could find on short notice. As always, Wrong Planet is my favorite Asperger’s site.
